Job Description:
As a Stakeholder Engagement / Relations Specialist at Carbonlocked Technologies Incorporation, you will be at the forefront of building trusted relationships with key external stakeholders, including government agencies, Indigenous communities, local residents, NGOs, and industry partners. Your role will ensure that our carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiatives are developed and operated with transparency, inclusivity, and mutual benefit. You will lead engagement activities, support environmental and regulatory processes, and communicate our climate mission to diverse audiences in alignment with Canadian legal and social frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with CCS project timelines and regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, in compliance with duty to consult obligations and reconciliation practices.
Facilitate public meetings, consultation sessions, and stakeholder workshops to gather feedback and address concerns.
Coordinate communication with local governments, landowners, environmental groups, and regulatory bodies.
Support Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and related permitting processes by ensuring stakeholder input is integrated.
Maintain accurate documentation of engagement efforts for reporting and audit purposes.
Collaborate with legal, ESG, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with Canadian Impact Assessment Act, Provincial environmental laws, and UNDRIP principles.
Prepare briefing materials, reports, newsletters, and social media content to communicate project progress.
Monitor social risks, reputational issues, and community feedback, and escalate where necessary.
Identify opportunities for long-term partnerships and shared value projects with community stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Science, Political Science, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in stakeholder or community engagement—preferably in energy, infrastructure, environment, or Indigenous relations.
Strong knowledge of Canadian Indigenous consultation frameworks, land rights, and regulatory engagement protocols.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated experience managing engagement across diverse cultural and regional contexts.
Proficiency in stakeholder mapping tools, CRM systems, and digital communication platforms.
Preferred:
Knowledge of CCS or clean energy infrastructure projects.
Experience with federal or provincial regulatory engagement (e.g., Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, Alberta Energy Regulator).
Ability to speak an Indigenous language or French is considered an asset.
