Job Description:

As a Climate/Carbon Policy Analyst at Carbonlocked Technologies Incorporation, you will play a critical role in shaping and aligning our carbon capture and storage initiatives with Canadian and international climate policies. You will monitor evolving climate regulations, analyze carbon market trends, and support the development of strategic policy frameworks that position the company as a leader in sustainable carbon management. This role requires strong analytical skills, policy insight, and the ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into actionable business recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and interpret Canadian federal, provincial (e.g., Alberta, Saskatchewan), and international carbon policies, including Net Zero targets, carbon pricing mechanisms, and CCS-specific regulations.

  • Conduct impact assessments of climate-related policies on existing and future CCS operations.

  • Support internal teams in navigating compliance requirements such as Clean Fuel Regulations, Output-Based Pricing Systems (OBPS), and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).

  • Track developments in voluntary and compliance carbon markets (e.g., offset credits, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement).

  • Develop policy briefs, position papers, and reports to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Represent Carbonlocked Technologies in consultations with government agencies, industry bodies, and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, business development, ESG) to integrate policy requirements into project planning and carbon accounting.

  • Identify funding, grants, and incentive opportunities related to CCS and low-carbon technologies.

  • Analyze the implications of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, GHG Protocol) on corporate climate disclosures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Policy, Public Administration, Climate Science, Economics, Law, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in climate policy, regulatory analysis, or sustainability strategy (ideally in the energy, infrastructure, or environmental sectors).
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian climate policy landscape and Net Zero regulatory frameworks.
  • Understanding of carbon capture technologies, carbon accounting, and carbon credit systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize complex regulations into clear business guidance.
  • Proficient in Excel, policy databases, and data visualization tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with CCS-specific regulation or reporting requirements.

  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP, TCFD, GRI).

  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset, particularly for roles involving federal/provincial engagement.
